She sat on the front step with her head in her hands wondering what was to happen next. She heard a sound just off to her right and looked up to find that it was just a dog. Relieved and just plain tired she got up to walk home but before she could stand up fully she saw them. Lorri Dayla and Mark Balich making out in the bushes. She'd recognise that red sweater anywhere. Shocked and hurt she got up on her rubber like legs and walked slowly over to them. When she reached them Mark heard her and looked up. First there was annoyance showing on his face and then there was a look saying "oh shit". Mark jumped away from Lorri and stood tried to explain.
"Angela I...This isn't what it looks like...I mean...Please don't be angry..."
"How could you Mark?" Angela's voice was all choked up and she looked at Lorri.
"Well Angel," Lorri emphasised the nickname, "I guess he got tired of you after all these years" Lorri Smiled wickedly.
"You bitch!" Angela slapped Lorri hard and Lorri's cheek hand a red mark on it. She shrieked and fell backwards by the force of the blow. Mark knelt down next to Lorri asking if shes ok.
"Angela what did you do that for?" Mark asked brusquely, then he realised what he did and said when Angela had tears streaming down her face. As she was backing away rom them with Mark getting up to apologise and make up, she bumped into something soft and solid at the same time. She turned and looked up and saw blue eyes and knew who it was instantly. It was Josh, her best friend, thats when she really started to cry knowing that someone knew she'd been cheated on.
"Angela, is everything alr..." Josh looked at Mark then at Lorri with her hand over her cheek and a little triumphant smile on her face.
"You fucking bastard" Josh started toward Mark when Angela turned and ran down the street towards her house. Josh looks over his shoulder after Angela, looks back at Mark and says "I'll get you for this". Then he turns and runs after Angela.
Angela reached home, slammed the front door and leaned against it breathing hard and crying all the more. No one was home thats why she went to the party in the first place and that Mark, her boyfriend, was going too. She calmed down after awhile and started up the stairs like she was in a trance. Angela heard a faint thudding noise but couldn't be bothered finding out what it was. She walked into her room and sat on her bed looking in the mirror.
Josh burst into the room and knelt at her feet with a worried look on his face.
"Angel baby. Are you ok? God I'll never let him get away with this" Josh said vehemently. Angela looked at Josh trying not to cry but failed and sobbed her heart out. Josh got up and sat on the bed, holding Angela gently while stroking her hair.
"Shhhh. Its ok. Everythings going to be alright in time"
"Oh Josh. I can't believe...how..how could he do this to me? I thought he...he loved me. After all these years he has to...to go and do that and with Lorri too!" She rested her head on Josh's shoulder, crying and stuttering. Josh felt like his heart was gonna break from all the grief his best friend's going through. Josh waited till Angela's tears subsided and then laid her gently down on the bed. He looked at her and was amazed at how beautiful his best friend was. He leaned forward and kissed her forehead before he got up to leave.
Josh went back to the party and stayed there unnoticed. He felt ready anger boiling up when he saw Lorri and Mark together, happy. How could he forget about her just like that, Josh thought to himself. At 12:46 Mark and Lorri headed out the front door as most of the others were leaving too. Josh followed them out and thought he felt someone close watching. He looked around and saw nobody but just the drunk people around. Mark and Lorri got into Mark's Holden and sped off. Josh got into his car and followed.
They seemed to be driving for ages and Josh was beginning to wonder where they were. Then Mark's car stopped by the edge of the woods and Josh looked around with a puzzled look on his face. Mark and Lorri got out of the car and he could tell they were really drunk. It was amazing that Mark didn't crash on the way. They headed off into the woods, laughing and stumbling. Josh got out of his car and again he had that feeling of being watched. Josh started to follow the couple and it wasn't hard because they were making a lot of noise. Mark stopped at a clearing with chopped trees and some machinery. Obviously they were chopping trees and building something. Mark and Lorri started pashing it out and Josh just felt like thumping Mark. Josh got up just to do that when something totally strange happened. Lorri looked like she was touch all of Mark but when Josh looked closer he saw that she was trying to get away from Mark. Josh was repulsed by what happened next and thought he was going to vomit.
Mark opeed his mouth really wide, wider than normal humans can and covered Lorri's screaming head and closed his mouth. Josh heard a horrible crunch and squish before he bit the head off and fed the rest of the body to a near by machine that had 'The Cruncher' written on the side of it.
